Marni Market Playland in Milano

Marni Market Playland in Milano

We, at Mimi Berlin, didn’t attend the Salone del Mobile 2017 this year because we missed our flight. But that you now by now, if you follow our blog….. Well, this week we will be posting about venues, designs and other places we feel we really missed out on. Being the Fashion Angels that we are we feel sorry for missing Marni‘s Playland installation. Luckily there are lot’s of pictures, gif’s and what have you not, on the interweb. And Marni also created a mini-market online for us to buy stuff from. Like the bag pictured below; which is actually a ‘Maxi geometric vase holder’ or a “trapeze-shaped-PVC- Artefact-product-with-possible-mperfections”; LOL!

“On the occasion of Milan 2017 Salone del Mobile, Marni will be transforming its space at Viale Umbria 42 into one big playground: MARNI PLAYLAND.
Reflecting on the concept of play, Marni invites the public to forget predefined rules and structures and interact with the surrounding space and the intriguing elements it contains. The MARNI PLAYLAND is a stretch of sand which is the perfect backdrop for a series of extraordinary objects and furniture sculptures that have cast practicality aside to embrace their playful side, leaving them open to interpretation.” (read more marni.com)

Sunday To Do Tip: Shamrock House Abcoude

Sunday To Do Tip: Abcoude

Today would be a nice day to visit the lovely village of Abcoude, close to Amsterdam in The Netherlands. Why? Beacause the private home ‘Shamrock House’ in Abcoude is open to public, and it’s filled with art, design objects, photography and tableware, all for sale. Oh.. and Dutch artist Meinbert Gozewijn van Soest will be drawing your portrait if you want. This exhibition is organized by Vasco del Arte and it houses work by, a.o; Airco Caravan, Narouz Moltzer, Peter Klashorst, Marcel Smink, JW Kaldenbach, Gem Kingdom, Adzer van der Molen, Mrs Jack and yours truly Mimi Berlin.

We did follow up on the Sunday to do tip, see the photo’s, made by JW Kaldenbach, above.

Adam and Eve in Wood

Adam and Eve in Wood

No, these are no dolls for sex educational purposes. This was your typical average home decoration set in the 1970s, Adam (with a penis and balls) and Eve (with a vagina) both made out of wood. You could get them in various sizes, but they were all made to fuck! The ones below are the Dutch/German/Belgian version

Rightside: made by/via Tony Futura, On the left: original dolls from the 1970s, found on Mimi Berlin’s atic.

Comparing the wooden objects above also says a lot about design; Then and Now.
