Gerrit Rietveld Academie The Fashion Show 2017

Gerrit Rietveld Academie The Fashion Show 2017

It’s that season of the year again. Fashion design graduates get to showcase their work in the shape of a fashion show. Mimi Blogger Team split up to see Amsterdam’s Gerrit Rietveld Academie show both live, on the spot and via the livestream somewhere else.

Above our images, taken live at the show, which was held outdoors between the concrete pillars of a section of the A10 Amsterdam city ring highway overpass, near the WOW complex in the Bos en Lommer district. Backstage was also an interesting place: the models were covered in plastic bags, to be shielded from rain and nudity we guess. It was an added bonus for us; seeiing the designs amongst non-model-normally-dressed-people. (see more HERE)

Exhibition: Watteau at Teylers Museum in Haarlem

Exhibition: Watteau at Teylers Museum in Haarlem

Mimi Blogger Team went to the opening of the ‘Watteau’ exhibition at Teylers museum.

Jean-Antoine Watteau’s (1684-1721) work marked the beginning of the Rococo movement. More than 60 paintings and drawings by Watteau and followers can be seen at Teylers Museum. Designs by fashion students at the Rietveld Academy, made with Watteau’s paintings in mind, are situated throughout the museum as well.

Next to the designs ‘Project Rietveld at Teylers’ also includes  sketches of the students and a professional portfolio, photographed by JW Kaldenbach.

(Fashionable) Messy Room Syndrome

Fashionable Messy Room Syndrome

Yes MRS is a common condition and it’s an actual syndrome! We were made aware of the Messy Room Syndrome by Edward Liao, a young fashion student at the Rietveld Academie. Edward took this syndrome as an inspiration source for his second term design project. Edward created a small collection and managed to to turn this into a fashionable project, rounding it up with a fashion shoot.

We knew about messy bedrooms and hoarders, but this syndrome is different; a messy room gets in the way of living by causing depression or anxiety MRS mostly happens to young people. (read more islamicinsights.com)
