Dutch Designers Re-invent The Chair

Dutch Designers Re-invent The Chair

What do the Red and Blue chair designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1918, The Wassily chair, designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925 and the Lounge chair and ottoman designed by Eames in 1959, have in common, except for the fact they are designed in the 20th century? Well, these design icons have all been re-invented by Dutch Designers. Just that.

Red and Blue Chair designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1917. Wassily Chair, designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925 (currently produced by Knoll). Lounge chair and ottoman designed by Eames in 1959. (currently produced by Herman Miller)

There are probably are more examples. Please be so kind to share them with us if you know! Thanks! xoxo Mimi

Galleries at the Amsterdam Art Fair 2015

Galleries at the Amsterdam Art Fair 2015

Amsterdam has a new art fair; The Amsterdam Art Fair, which was opened yesterday by Beatrice Ruf, director of the Stedelijk Museum. The Amsterdam Art Fair houses a selection of 40 galleries, according to AAF, representing the best of the Dutch contemporary art market. We, at Mimi Berlin, must agree, we had a great time! The fair is situated at the Kunsthal Citroën, located in the former Citroën garage/showroom, built in 1931 and designed by Jan Wils, at the Stadionplein in Amsterdam. The interior of the building is left untouched, Downstairs, in the actual garage, the remnants of the car workshop are beautifully incorporated in the sculpture exhibition. The galleries are presenting upstairs in the former, white and clean, car showroom. That’s were we took the snaps above; tables and chairs; or how to present your printed matter. (stay tuned for more posts later on this blog) Yes, we also took Party Snaps. ‘Cause we know you like that!! The fair will be open from May 27th until and including May 31st 2015 Wednesday 27 May from 5 pm – 9 pm Thursday 28 – Saturday 30 May from 11 am – 7 pm Sunday 31 May from 11 am – 5 pm Entrance; €10,- Continue reading
