RVDK showing at Couture Week Paris

RVDK showing at Couture Week Paris

The letters RVDK stand for Ronald van der Kemp, a Dutch fashion designer who started his own first demi-couture label, for Fall 2015: RVDK. He and his team have been slowly working towards the opportunity to show, officially, in Paris during Couture Week, June 2017. (showing the collection for Fall/Winter 2018). That’s kind of a big deal; you have to be a member of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode. Other Dutch fashion designers showing this season are Iris van Herpen, Viktor & Rolf and Belgian designers A.F. Vandervorst. (Obviously we are rooting for the BeNeLux)

Gratuliere to you all at RVDK!

Ronald van der Kemp has a long career in fashion (a.o. Guy Laroche, Wolford). He started his demi-couture line in 2014. Later on he teamed up with Mirjam Bax, she was “the woman behind” Dutch Couturier Frans Molenaar for over twenty years. Investing in a long time career in fashion before starting your own business is really the smart thing to do. Van der Kemp and Bax now how things work, together they have a solid and knowledgeable (is that a word?) background: they managed to sell internationally at net-à-porter, dressed targeted celebrities and get press from the influencial fashion journalists (in reverse order ofcourse). And, don’t get us wrong; there’s a big heap of talent as well included!

“The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode brings together fashion brands that foster creation and international development. It seeks to promote French fashion culture, where Haute Couture and creation have a major impact by combining traditional know how and contemporary technology at all times. It contributes to bolstering Paris in its role as worldwide fashion capital.” (read more FHCM)

“Inspired to celebrate “the joy of craftsmanship” and make luxury fashion feel intimate and exclusive, Ronald van der Kemp has created a demi-couture collection only available at NET-A-PORTER.COM. Made from unique vintage fabrics, these vibrant, rock ’n’ roll pieces are stitched, tailored and sewn by hand, and are often finished with ‘couture anglaise’ seams.” (read more net-a-porter.com)
