History of Stan Smith: The Sneaker

History of Stan Smith: The SneakerHistory of Stan Smith: The Sneaker

Stan Smith was a world-class tennis player. He got his own tennis shoe from/by Adidas in 1973 (that’s the one on top of the tree, see image above). Since then the sneakers have been kept alive by means of re-vamping. In 2014 Pharell Williams got his own StanSmithSneakers (with a debossed Pharrell Williams logo on the heel) also in 2014, Raf Simons got his. (the Raf Simons StanSmithSneakers have a perforated “R” on the side and a debossed “Raf Simons” logo on the back of the shoe) We, at Mimi Berlin, would categorize these sneakers as Silent Screamers because of the subtle detailing; only visible to the eye of a connaisseur (images courtesy of Adidas, collage/family tree by Mimi Berlin)
